Veterinarians
Dr Lolene Louw BVSc MRCVS
Dr Lolene graduated from the University of Zimbabwe in 1996. After working in Zimbabwe for a couple of years and then in the UK for six years, she now lives on the Sunshine Coast with her husband, two children, 3 dogs; Tiny (photo), Shupa and Penga, Oscar the cat and 3 guinea pigs. She joined our team in 2004 after a period working at Sunshine Coast Pet ER. As well as being experienced in the veterinary care of dogs and cats, Dr Lolene is also experienced working with guinea pigs.
In 2011, Dr Lolene participated in a bike ride and raised $2,500 for Cancer research and support for the Queensland Institute of Medical Research.
Dr Angela Donnellan BVSc MRCVS
Dr Angela graduated from Onderstepoort, University of Pretoria (South Africa) in 2001 and now lives on the Sunshine Coast with her husband, two children and Basil the cat. Basil isn’t the type of cat that likes to sit still for photographs in an unfamiliar park. Fortunately Ulysses the poodle was happy to stand-in!
Dr Angela joined our team in 2009. Dr Angela is experienced in the veterinary care of dogs and particularly enjoys caring for cats. Dr Angela has returned from maternity leave after the birth of her second child (a boy) in December.
Dr Belinda Gill BSc BVSc
Dr Belinda joined our team after graduating in Veterinary Science from the University of Queensland in 2009. She also has a Science degree in Marine Biology and Zoology, Honours in Marine Parasitology and a post graduate Certificate in Aquaculture. Dr Belinda now lives on the Sunshine Coast with her partner, her bearded dragon “Nibbler” and an aquarium with two clown fish. Nibbler can run fast and hide well in a park, so Dr Belinda thought best not give him the chance! Fortunately George the terrier was happy to stand-in. Dr Belinda enjoys caring for dogs and cats and also enjoys caring for fish, turtles and other reptiles.
Veterinary Nurses
Sacha Cooke
Sacha Cooke (Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing) heads our Vet Nursing team. She joined our team in 2009, and now lives on the Sunshine Coast with her partner and red cattle dog Mattie. Sacha came to us with 5 years experience in Vet Nursing, gained at a busy specialist practice in a Queensland rural city. Sacha loves working with all animals, with a particular interest in exotics. She likes being kept on her toes, challenged at work day to day, and the never-ending learning and fun of the job.
Michelle Becerra
Michelle joined our team in 2009 and lives on the Sunshine Coast. Her dog Sammy enjoyed the park and the photo session! Michelle is in the final stages of her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Michelle came to us with 2 years experience in Vet Nursing, gained at a busy small animal practice in Brisbane. Michelle grew up surrounded by animals and developed a passion for caring for them. She loves seeing patients recover from illness and injury and be happily reunited with their families. Michelle enjoys taking on challenges and feeling like she has made a real difference. She loves her job! Not only does Michelle enjoy caring for pets, she also loves to chat with our clients and help them solve any problems they may be having with their pet.
Lucy McCarthy
Lucy joined our team in 2011 after working with us as a volunteer trainee for 6 months, and lives on the Sunshine Coast with her dog Pookie, Tyler the cat, ducks Binky and Stinky, Silky Bantams and her chooks. Pookie enjoyed having a photo taken, but not nearly as much as he enjoyed trying to catch those little fish at the edge of lake! Lucy joined us with a Certificate II in Veterinary Nursing and is studying to attain her Certificate IV. Lucy is always looking for ways to improve our processes. She particularly enjoys working with wildlife and aquatic animals. Lucy enjoys watching animals recover from illness healthier and happier than ever. She also loves surgical nursing, appreciates dedicated pet owners. and loves her job.
Practice Manager
Dr Karin C Mogg BVSc PhD MACVSc MBA
Dr Karin graduated from Sydney University in 1985, and bought the practice in 1998. She lives on the Sunshine Coast with her husband, two children, two dogs (Jasmine and Ulysses, in the photo), 3 guinea pigs and a few aquarium fish. Dr Karin undertakes contract work for a Government Department in Canberra and is a Director (managing HR) for Sunshine Coast Pet ER. As well as managing the practice, Dr Karin performs a mentoring role, passing on her experience and skills to the next generation of vets and vet nurses at the practice (i.e. looking after the people who look after you and your pets).
