Meet Miss Beetle, our Marketing and Pet Care Manager. She is also the main "storm approaching" indicator. She has an eye for cleanliness, and has very high overall client and patient care standards.

Dr Retief Botha

Veterinarian & Practice Owner (BVSc)

Dr Retief Botha is the senior veterinary director at Currimundi Veterinary Clinic. Together with his wife Sue, they were the former owners for 10 years of Maroochydore Veterinary Surgery.

Dr Retief has practiced as a small animal veterinarian since 1996. Qualifying in South Africa (South African Vet), then working in England (English Vet), and since 2004 he has been serving the Sunshine Coast community, helping pets and their owners.

Dr Botha is also very actively involved with the human side of community care, as a qualified Surf Life Saver.

He has a Veterinary interest in skin diseases, dentistry and geriatric care, but is also a good all-round practitioner and excellent surgeon. Dr Retief is looking forward to providing you with trustworthy, professional and value for money vet care.

Dr Hannah Moy

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Dr Hannah qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 2017, and started her veterinary career in Port Augusta, South Australia, where she worked at a busy small animal clinic for 4 years. However, Dr Hannah is happy to be back home on the Sunshine Coast again. 

Dr Hannah enjoys all aspects of veterinary science, and has been lucky to have managed a wide variety of cases in Port Augusta to give her plenty of experience before finding her way to us here at Currimundi Vets.

Since being back on the Coast Dr Hannah has been enjoying catching up with old friends and family. She also loves spending time hiking, and relaxing with her Weirmaraner Jasper.

Nurse Sue Botha

Registered Veterinary Nurse & Assistant Practice Manager (Qualified Veterinary Nurse)

Sue is a highly experienced qualified vet nurse, and has been nursing now for over 36 years.

Sue qualified in England, and has been head nurse in both large and small animal practices.

Sue has two cats, Sizzles and Sushi, and a little Jack Russell cross, Beetle.


Jolien Stephens

Customer Service Manager (BSc Human Resource & Business Management)

After travelling around the world for a few years, Jolien has settled on the Sunshine Coast with her husband Joe and Golden Retriever Pippa. Jolien's background is in Human Resource Management, but she's always loved working with animals (she even met her now husband whilst working at a primate rehabilitation centre in South Africa!). To have a job where she can combine her interest in HR with her love for animals, is very satisfying.

Jolien enjoys being active, and you can often find her running, biking and doing pilates. She also loves travelling, spending time with friends, going to the beach, meeting new people, reading, and sipping coffee.

Nurse Laura Youll

Registered Veterinary Nurse (Qualified Veterinary Nurse)

Laura grew up with a large variety of pets, and currently has two cats, Tali and Tao. Laura first joined us in 2021 as a work experience student for just one day a week, to enable her to gain the practical experience required for her to complete her Certificate III and IV in Animal Studies/Veterinary Nursing.

Before Laura joined our team at Currimundi Vets, she had her own dog walking and dog training business. She has also completed her Certificate III in Dog Behaviour and Training.

In her spare time, Laura loves hiking, camping, pet sitting, and watching movies. 

Nurse Micaela Turley

Registered Veterinary Nurse (Qualified Veterinary Nurse)

From a young age, Micaela always dreamt of a career working with animals. After spending 5 years working in the healthcare industry, Micaela made the decision to complete her Certificate III in Animal/Veterinary Studies in 2022. She continued her studies in 2023, and has since completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.

When Micaela is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her best friend, Jasper her Miniature Dachshund. Micaela spends most of her free time outdoors. She is an active member of a social netball team, loves surfing, and can regularly be found on some of the Sunshine Coasts mountain trails.

Nurse Hayley Woodhouse

Trainee Veterinary Nurse (Certificate 3 Animal Studies)

Since High School, Hayley had always wanted to become a veterinary nurse and made the decision in 2022 to complete a Certificate III in Animal Studies/Veterinary Nursing. She is currently well on her way to completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.

Living on the Sunshine Coast with her husband, two kids, dog Chewy and crazy cockatiel Polly, Hayley makes the most of having the beach and mountains on her doorstep. You can also find her with her nose buried in a good book.

Nurse Maddie Smith

Registered Veterinary Nurse (Qualified Veterinary Nurse)

Maddie's journey started with a deep passion and care for all kinds of animals and the environment. Maddie completed her Certificate II in Animal Studies during high school and has spent over a decade working in the industry. She has volunteered and worked at zoos, boarding kennels, pet stores, and wildlife centres. Maddie has since also completed her Certificate III and Certificate IV in Vet Nursing. 

Outside of work, Maddie enjoys spending time in her garden and tending to her stingless bee hive. Maddie also loves horse riding, going to the gym, and meditation.

Maddie is a proud pet owner of her miniature Dachshund Whiskey, and her four beloved parrots: Ellie (Eclectus), Byron (Majoy Mitchell), Scruffy (Galah), and Cucumbur (little Corella).
